I could have gotten so many more of these, but my ride was leaving!
Fresh lychees. I’ve only had these from a can, about 25 years ago, and they were awful. I am told they are very good fresh. I did not buy any, but took a photo instead.
Muscat gummy candy offers admiring feelings of a graceful lady. Just like mom.
Fish ball of all sorts and plenty of dried anchovies to boot.
Making kimchee. I did not buy any, but I did have kimchee cabbage and radishes during lunch at Arirang, the restaurant behind the H-Mart grocery store.
Psy lends his image to some type of alcoholic beverage so we can all drink Gangnam style.
I thought the label was cute on this one.
There are several varieties of dried fish for sale, something I have not seen before in my regular grocery back home.
These are different types of bamboo.
Note the red beans over ice flakes. I still don’t understand this combo, but it was advertised for sale in more than one place just outside the grocery area. I did try the green tea ice cream over green tea ice flakes. Okay, but I still prefer vanilla ice cream from the dairy state.
The health food store just outside the grocery.
Possibly pickled radishes. Colorful.
Quail eggs. Small and speckled.
Live conch and oysters. Mussels and clams were in the next bins over and we tapped a few clams just to watch them close up. I don’t get out enough.
These blue crabs were alive, pretty, and inexpensive at $3.99/#. At least I think that’s cheap for blue crab. I bet they’re delicious.
Did I mention you can get your hair cut or styled just outside the perimeter of the grocery? Here my friend gets a quick trim.
Even eye exams and new glasses!
Purple sweet potatoes. Pretty.
Homerun Ball, with 3% real cocoa – score!
Just a little garlic to go …
… or some mososodium glutamate (MSG) in bulk?
Very fresh squid staring back at you.
These are Japanese treats.
Grass jelly drink, of course – where has this been all my life?
Personally, I’d like a fun date over a fresh one, but that’s me.
I think Koreans will pickle just about anything. Here we see pickled lemon.
Jack fruit. No idea what this is or how one might eat it, but it was kind of pretty.
