A Spring Walk Through Downer Woods
Downer Woods is located on the northernmost part of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus within a small fenced in area just behind the Klotsche Athletic Center along Edgewood Avenue. It is about the size of one or two city blocks and has a looped trail the crosses a couple small streams. The sun was bright and the air humid as I cut through here today. I had hoped to find a snake or frog, but it just wasn’t my day. The patch of green in the image below is starting to bloom and should look lovely within a few days. I tried to identify them online, but I will have to try harder because I did not succeed.
