Walking Around Today

This little guy/gal was sitting on bright yellow plastic “bumper” tubing along the UW-Milwaukee Panther playing field fence.

This is one of my friendly neighbors and her Great Pyrenees. “Annie” is her fifth GP and she adores the breed, though readily admits that they are a lot of work, they shed a lot, and they aren’t for everyone. Annie is one gorgeous beast!

The city is about to dig up some roads near my house and there are piles of bright aqua-colored pipes lying at the ready. This shot was a nice idea, but my phone didn’t quite get where to focus and I didn’t stop to check before walking on. I’ll have to try again. 🙂

Green Rooves … with Hooves!

While running my first half marathon yesterday (I know, right? I can hardly believe I did that, but I did that!) We passed these “green” roofs under the 35th Street viaduct. I never would have noticed them had I not been on foot.

image

Note the Milwaukee Brewer’s stadium in the distance. That’s where the race began and ended.

image

Then I notice a group of sheep grazing on one of the roofs!

image

image

They’re not real, but they sure looked it at first, especially after about 8 miles of running, a point at which unicorns trotting alongside me would have seemed reasonable. I had to go back today with my camera to make sure I had really seen them and to share them with you!

Street Art, Short North, Columbus, Ohio

image

While visiting friends in Columbus, we happened on some really fun and colorful street art in an area near the Ohio State University campus called the Short North. At one point I caused my hosts a bit of consternation when I disappeared down a side street to capture these first three images, which were all part of one wall.

image

This long wall was completely covered in images.

image

I particularly like how this blue guy is holding the electrical conduit outside the building like a spear.

image

image

I think this little guy might have been added on later by a separate artist/tagger, but it’s hard to know where one things stops and another starts.

image

image

Is bd the artist? Who knows?

image

image

I like the octopi and the angry blue triangle-headed guys here. A nice octopus-looking creature showed up in another mural across the street so maybe the same artist/s did both walls?

A hat pulling a rabbit wearing a hat out of a hat. Top that!

That is one cool flower, man.

This is on some board in front of a construction area at a crosswalk.

This wall is across the street from the first long wall.

image

Even the pole for the parking sign is painted, as well as the sign above the wheelchair parking sign.

image

Here’s that lovely octopus I was talking about. His tentacles are reflected in the roof of the car parked beneath him.

Tripping – that word comes to mind.

A little poetry and possibly a peeking giraffe?

The sort of Seussical end.

Sterling and Bebe Along the Trail

This gallery contains 1 photo.

I met a couple walking their Scottish terriers (God loves a terrier!) along the trails on the Milwaukee County grounds and had to stop and say hello. I have a thing for bearded dogs. Go figure. Sterling was quite friendly (left) while Bebe was more cautious, but both came over to greet us. When I […]
