One Beech

This large beech tree is one of a few near the entrance of a large Milwaukee cemetery. Beech trees are quite majestic trees with multiple large trunks and grand canopies that spread wider than they are usually tall. I walk by this particular tree frequently and stopped on this occasion to examine the picturesque bark. The purple flower tucked into a cleft in the trunk was undoubtedly part of a memorial that someone must have picked up.

Sunset Trail Reflections II

image
This was taken shortly before my phone died. I was using the GPS on it to measure the distance of the entire trail loop and that really sucks the life out of a phone. Oh, well. Next time I won’t have to map it so I’ll be ready for the buck that was munching just around the bend, the doe and her two fawns, and the great horned owl near the end of the trail that swept out from some large oak trees. I should return at dusk again with the big camera and a long lens!
