Weekly Photo Challenge: Reflections

image

Art imitates life, and life art, as seen in the wavy reflections of Aspen trunks on the sunset surface of Weber Lake, Upson, Wisconsin.

I have just returned from a glorious week in the great north woods. So many images to play with!

Sea of Grasses

Winds rippling through tall grasses on a hike around the County Grounds give the impression of water. (It takes about 30 seconds for the wind to get going – wait for it!)

This is the first time I’ve ever uploaded a video here and I don’t intend to make it a habit. This scene was mesmerizing to me. I could have sat here and watched it for quite a long while (better than sitting in front of a computer screensaver!) so I decided to try out the video capabilities of my phone, an HTC Inspire. It would have been a little better on a tripod to keep the camera steady, but at least I have the scene captured for my future enjoyment, if not yours as well. 😉

Jellyfish at Discovery World

We had a fun time down at Discovery World along Lake Michigan today. I was shocked to hear the 10-minute closing warning. I had no idea it was nearly 5pm. We hadn’t even finished the aquarium yet, but I did take a few quick shots of the jellyfish tank. They are so pretty, but so “barely there” that it’s amazing they can even make a go of it, I mean, where are their brains, for Pete’s sake? Ethereal, dreamy, graceful. The shots don’t look as great as they could, but the whole point of this particular blog is to use the phone for quick uploads, so not bad. 😉

Fish Creek, the bay

image

Okay, I lied. I said this blog was going to be photos taken around Milwaukee. Define “around”.  Ha! Well, about four hours north of Milwaukee for this one, up on the bay side of the Door County peninsula. The day was warmer than this photo suggests, the cold water keeping the shoreline ice from melting as fast as it would do on land.
